Val Kilmer

Hollywood actor Val Kilmer, known for his roles in Top Gun, Heat, Batman Forever, and Tombstone, unveiled that he is recovering from cancer.

The 57-year-old actor hosted an Ask Me Anything on Reddit where one fan asked, “A while ago, Michael Douglas claimed you had terminal cancer, what was the story behind that?”

Kilmer responded, “He was probably trying to help me ’cause press probably asked where I was these days, and I did have a healing of cancer, but my tongue is still swollen (although) healing all the time. Because I don’t sound my normal self yet people think I may still be under the weather.”

Michael Douglas told Jonathan Ross in London last year that “Val was a wonderful guy who is dealing with exactly what I had [tongue cancer], and things don’t look too good for him. My prayers are with him. That’s why you haven’t heard too much from Val lately.”

Kilmer had previously denied that he had throat cancer and was gravely ill, “Thank you all for your love and support. There’s a rumor I’m unwell again and in hospital which is totally untrue.”

During the Ask Me Anything Kilmer teased that he would be up for a Top Gun sequel as well as reprising the role of Batman.
