Both the wrestling world and the political world was smelling what Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson was cooking this week when he announced that he is actively considering running for President.
The Rock is beloved both in the wrestling world and the entertainment world at large and is one of Hollywood’s most bankable stars. But is he cut out to lead the United States of America?
I think not. The Rock is a great actor but would be a real jabroni in the White House.
Here’s why.
He Has Little Relevant Experience
Dwayne Johnson’s career has been entirely in the entertainment industry. He was a wrestler who then transitioned into an actor. He does own his own production company, but I don’t think those type of credentials is enough to be Commander-in-Chief of the world’s greatest military.
People Can’t Take Him Seriously
He’s still called The Rock. He’s tried his hardest to shed the moniker and simply be called “Dwayne Johnson.” However, he will ALWAYS be the Rock. He will always be followed by his catchphrases, tattoos and signature eyebrow. Wrestling has a big credibility problem. Too many people think it either silly or outright dangerous. While several wrestlers have run for office and even been successful, running for President is something else entirely.
Counterpoint: both Arnold Schwarzenegger and Donald Trump have been elected to office.
He’s Too Muscular!
Seriously, look at this dude. He would definitely be our most jacked and athletic President (sorry Teddy Roosevelt).
Also, he LOVES to train. Loves it. He loves to lift weights and eat. How could he do that while running the country?
He’d definitely lose some muscle and that wouldn’t be good. People would think he was slacking and confidence in The Rock would plummet. President Rock would definitely have to skip leg day.
