Police have contained the situation and medical crews are now examining the gunman. They believe he went to the Flood Wall in a suicide attempt.

An active shooter has been reported near Shawnee State University in Portsmouth, Ohio. A local firefighter told TriState Update that all city schools are currently on lockdown.

The TriState Update reports the shooter is suicidal.

Witnesses are reporting that the shooting is happening near the Portsmouth Flood Wall near Front Street.

Firefighters on the ground note that no shots have been fired, but the suspect is considered armed and dangerous.
