Alan Jackson

Country star Alan Jackson credits his mother for his success. His childhood memories inspired a lot of his hits. He recorded a collection of gospel songs in “Precious Moments” as a Mother’s Day gift to his mom.

Sadly, Jackson’s mom passed away January 7th. She was 86. Alan’s fans are aware of how much his Mom meant to him. She’d accompany him to awards shows. His fans embraced Mama Ruth Jackson.

Mama Ruth and her husband built their home around an old tool shed shortly after their wedding. Mrs. Jackson lived there until the day she died. Alan’s Dad died in 2000.

When Alan’s fans would come to see his childhood home, she would offer them tea and let them take a picture on the front porch. She had a very beloved role in his life.

Her kind nature and her Christian heart left quite an impression upon many people. That influence can be seen in Alan’s music. Alan’s heart has got to be breaking as he says goodbye to his dear mother.

You can hear him sing, “Are You Washed In The Blood / I’ll Fly Away” in the video below.
