The media is trusted these days about as much as the politicians are. Sometimes it takes a respected figure outside of politics for the media to truly “hear” how bad they are and actor Denzel Washington did just that with just a couple of sentences!

Washington was at a red carpet event for the movie he directed and stars in, Fences. It is a story about a black family in 1950’s Pittsburgh reflecting on their lives. Denzel, said the following when talking about the press:

“If you don’t read the newspaper, you’re uninformed. If you do read it, you’re misinformed.”

OUCH. Washington went on to say the media has a responsibility to tell the truth and not be concerned about being FIRST. Denzel had more for them:

“In our society, now it’s just first — who cares, get it out there. We don’t care who it hurts. We don’t care who we destroy. We don’t care if it’s true. “Just say it, sell it. Anything you practice you’ll get good at — including BS.”

Perfect!

Tell others about this one. Show them how Denzel Washington has the media’s number when it comes to their nonsense and that everybody else should be just as critical! They don’t ever want to take the blame but there is a reason the media is not trusted!
