Joey Feek Indiana Feek

Many of us grieved with Rory Feek when his wife Joey died from cancer earlier this year. Her life and death as a strong and loving Christian woman was incredibly inspiring.

Now Rory is raising their 2-year-old daughter Indiana as a widowed father. Indiana has Down Syndrome which means that she has an extra chromosome.

There is a stigma in society that people with Down Syndrome are less, but Rory wants us all to know that is not the case. People like Indiana are so much more and she brings a tremendous amount of joy.

The proud daddy posted a beautiful and joyous video of Indiana that you can see below. The short video begins with her birth and you can see the pride and love in Joey’s face.

Rory points out that even though Joey’s life was ending, they were not burdened by a child with a disability; they believed this is the child God wanted them to have. Indiana wasn’t a mistake. This was all intentional as part of God’s plan.

“When she was born, Joey and I said, ‘this is the child God wants us to have’, and we believed it. And we were right. I can not imagine Joey not having those two years to be a mama to Indiana and get to experience the love and happiness that Indy brought to her. God knew that. He made it so. It was His gift to her. Like Indy is my gift now. She is the smile on the face of father who should be crying. She is the joy in the life of a family that should be filled with sadness.”

This family is such an inspiration. They have the ability to see God’s hand in our lives so clearly. What a tremendous gift.

Please share this if you agree that God doesn’t make mistakes!
