D-Day, Greatest Generation, WWII

Today is the anniversary of D-Day. June 6, 1944 is when the course of WWII changed. It was a day that many American and allied soldiers lost their lives fighting the Nazis.

It is hard to get your mind around the enormity of that day. The effort to coordinate this invasion was an amazing feat. And then you think of those young men on the U-boats, many of whom faced certain death. 85% of those who landed first died there.

The National WWII Museum has a video of D-Day veterans detailing that day. They recall the instructions they were given. They had a gut wrenching job that included leaving their dying friends. And they did it.

This video gives me goosebumps and reminds me of the need to be thankful. I have nothing to complain about when I consider all that these men did.

Please share this so others can remember the sacrifices made on D-Day.
