The global coronavirus pandemic is a time of great uncertainty and fear for many. It’s times like these where we must find hope wherever we can. And millions have found just that in a likeness of Jesus Christ that appeared high in a tree just days before Easter Sunday.
Jesus Appears In A Tree In Colombia
A new video circulated in The Daily Star shows people gathering around a tree in Magangue, a municipality within Bolivar, Colombia.
“Dozens of people are gathered here,” cameraman and journalist Rafael Rodriguez can be heard saying. “They are here to see the figure of what they say or believe is the figure of Christ, they have forgotten about coronavirus and are currently here looking at this figure.”
The figure in the tree bears a striking resemblance to the image of Jesus in modern paintings and statues. Even more stunning, the branch formation even gives the impression of a cross!
“It can clearly be seen, and everybody is praying and asking for Earth to be cured of this evil and for Magangue to be protected,” Rodriguez said.
Authorities Worry People Will Break Quarantine To See Jesus
This likeness of Jesus in the tree is touching so many people that local authorities fear the tree is becoming a pilgrimage site.

The video below clearly shows that people are ignoring social distancing guidelines by visiting the tree and standing close to one another. Visitors have begun to build a shrine of sorts at the base of this tree.
“The figure appeared last Sunday night and people rushed there with candles and transformed the place into a pilgrimage site, which is concerning neighbours as a lot of people are going there,” said journalist Rodolfo Zambrano.
Authorities are concerned with how to manage an influx of believers amid the lockdown due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Colombia has so far reported 1,579 confirmed cases of COVID-1, with 46 deaths and 88 recoveries to date.
Virgin Mary Spotted In The Sky
This comes days after residents of San Carlos, Argentina reported to seeing an image of the Virgin Mary in the sky.
Susy Jimenez shared photos of the figure to social media along with the caption, “Thanks Mother for protecting us, for interceding for God, and for your mercy for the people.”
Of course, nonbelievers were quick to post negative comments on the hopeful image.
In response, one social media user wrote, “There are a lot of stories… I do know we are very sensitive, aren’t we asking for a bit of hope?”
This user hits the nail on the head.
Whether you see Jesus or Mary in these images, what’s the harm in allowing others to draw hope from them?
To many of us, these images serve as a reminder that God is with us. Especially in the most difficult of times.
