On Monday morning’s episode of “The View,” moderator Whoopi Goldberg defied the woke left by blasting “sensitivity edits” of classic novels like the James Bond series and books written by Roald Dahl.
Ian Fleming's James Bond books are being rid of certain racial references, just days after Roald Dahl's publisher edited sections of his books to remove mentions of 'fat' and 'ugly'. @NIAbbot asks: What do you make of our generation's obsession to rework and censor the past? pic.twitter.com/sLLuvqXrrQ

‘Y’all Gotta Stop This’
Goldberg found reports that Ian Fleming’s James Bond novels were being reedited to remove anything that the left deems to be offensive. This came after it was reported that Dahl’s books were going through rewrites to take out offensive content.
“Y’all gotta stop this, okay?” Goldberg said. “Just put a disclaimer on it that says, ‘listen, this book was written at this time, or put out the original and what y’all have done because kids should have the right to read how people thought so that they know how to make the change.”
“You know, they tried to do this with Mark Twain as well because they were so concerned the n-word was in the book,” she continued. “Well that’s how they did it. That’s how it was. We don’t want people doing it today and you don’t see it as much. That’s how people learn.”
Co-host Sara Haines agreed, saying, “This will show people when they feel really uncomfortable reading a certain world. That impact can be greater than anything else. Leave it alone.”
The woke recently wanted to cancel Shakespeare in our schools – now they want to rewrite Roald Dahl and James Bond to get rid of words that might offend the snowflakes.

Sunny Hostin Disagrees
Though most of Goldberg’s co-hosts agreed with her, Sunny Hostin defended the edits.
“When you think about a book like James Bond, and I’m a huge James Bond fan, in his ‘Live and Let Die’ book, in that novel, he visits Harlem and uses the n-word to describe almost every that Black person he sees there,” she lamented.
“And in my view, the sensitivity of the edits now say ‘black man,’ ‘black woman,’ ‘black person.’ I appreciate that. You don’t have to call me the n-word for me to understand my oppression,” Hostin added. “And I think when someone who is oppressed tells you that, you should listen.”
“You don’t have to call me the n-word for me to understand my oppression,” she continued.
Co-host Ana Navarro, however, defended recently seeing a play with her husband that included heavy use of the n-word.
“We went to see ‘Piano Lesson,’ the play by August Wilson,” she said. “The n-word is used there like every other sentence and it should make us feel uncomfortable, but it is what it is. It was what it was and we cannot erase history.”

Goldberg Doubles Down
Goldberg concluded the segment by sticking to her guns, saying that people “need to know what was,” and adding that the “n-word is used in a lot of our own literature when we’re talking about us.”
“The bottom line is if we say it has to be removed from all the literature, that includes our literature. That includes us too,” she stated. “And I don’t think that’s OK.”
“I don’t think when art has been made, you can talk about it, you can say you don’t like it, you don’t have to participate in it, but you should know about it,” Goldberg concluded. “People should have the right to go and investigate and find out why is this offensive and then ask me.”

Goldberg’s stance against sensitivity edits will undoubtedly come as a surprise to some, as she is typically a supporter of whatever the latest demand of the woke left is. If the woke crowd is going so far left that even Goldberg is saying it’s too much, it might be time for them to rethink their actions.
