The Original Series
King of the Hill originally premiered in January 1997 and ran for 13 seasons, comprising over 250 episodes, before concluding in May 2010.
Set in the fictional town of Arlen, Texas, the series followed Hank Hill, a propane salesman, his wife, Peggy, and their son Bobby. Along with their daily interactions, Hank’s friends Dale, Bill, and Boomhauer also joined the screen, plus Peggy’s friends Minh and Nancy, and Bobby’s friend Connie.
When is the King of the Hill Revival Premiering?
The King of the Hill revival will premiere on August 4th on Hulu, consisting of 10 episodes. Since the show is a revival, not a reboot, it will pick up with the same characters, but years later in their lives.
When interviewed by Variety, Disney Television Group President Craig Erwich teased, “I think people are going to love the new King of the Hill. It is so perfect for our times without trying too hard. You see Hank Hill in a whole new way.”

What is the New Plot?
Years have passed for the Hills and their friends in the King of the Hill revival. Hulu has released a description of the new season, stating:
“After years working a propane job in Saudi Arabia to earn their retirement nest egg, Hank and Peggy Hill return to a changed Arlen, Texas, to reconnect with old friends Dale, Boomhauer, and Bill. Meanwhile, Bobby is living his dream as a chef in Dallas and enjoying his 20s with his former classmates Connie, Joseph, and Chane.”
Below is a clip of the opening scene to the revival, showing some of the changes that have occurred to both the characters and Arlen, including the introduction of technology.
For instance, in a new poster of the show, Dale is wearing a VR headset, Boomhauer is holding a digital tablet, and Bill is getting an order from Mega Lo Eats, all while a drone hovers over Hank with a case of Alamo Beer.
What Cast Members are Returning?
Several cast members are returning to the series. Mike Judge will be back to voice Hank and his friend Boomhauer, while other members include Kathy Najimy, Pamela Adlon, Stephen Root, and Lauren Tom.
Johnny Hardwick, who voiced Dale Gribble, died in August 2023, but was able to record some episodes of the revival before he died.
