Fans were recently left devastated when Paramount+ cancelled the revival of Frasier after just two seasons. Despite this, however, Frasier star Kelsey Grammer is convinced that the show will get a third season.
What’s more, is that he thinks former Cheers star Ted Danson might be onboard.
Grammer ‘Very Positive’ That Frasier Is Coming Back
Grammer, 70, told The New York Post that he is “very positive” that Frasier will be coming back, but on a different streaming service.
“There’s a better home for it,” he explained. “I mean, obviously, they didn’t really promote or spend much time on it.”
“The fellow that worked at Paramount Plus when we first sold the show there left, and so it sort of fell into their laps, the next administration, without having any real … what to do with it,” he continued. “So I think they gave it sort of a good try, but they weren’t particularly passionate about the project.”
Essentially, Frasier became a victim of turnover in the TV Department at Paramount.
“We’ll end up somewhere where people are passionate about it,” Grammer added. “Listen, it’s got a huge audience, a big following, and if people know where to find it, I think they will.”

Frasier Revival
The revival of Frasier premiered in October of 2023. Grammer returned as Dr. Frasier Crane, who moves back to Boston after his father passes away and his twenty year relationship with Charlotte ends. Though Paramount+ canceled Frasier back in January, it’s been reported that CBS plans to shop it to other streamers.
Grammer went on to say that if the Frasier revival does get picked up, his former Cheers co-star Ted Danson, 77, might be onboard. Dr. Frasier Crane was originally a character on Cheers before he was given his own spinoff show.
“Ted and I might visit actually something together,” Grammer stated. “We’ve been talking about a couple ideas. Maybe on Frasier. We don’t know.”
Grammer admitted that “there’s certainly still some fields to be mined there” before Dr. Crane reunites with Danson’s Sam Malone on-screen.
“As long as its still a relevant relationship, it will still be relevant for the show,” he added. “[Sam] and Frasier got along pretty well, discovered some things together about life. They could still do that.”
One thing that Grammer is confident will not happen, however, is a Cheers revival.
“‘Cheers’ will not come back,” he made a point of emphatically saying. “I mean, Jimmy Burrows has always said, ‘No, that bar doesn’t exist anymore.’”
Burrows, 84, is one of the co-creators of Cheers. Watch Grammer talk more about this in the video below.

Grammer’s Falling Out With Danson
This comes after Grammer recently revealed that he and Danson had a falling out that lasted 30 years, with them only recently making up. In his new interview, however, Grammer claimed that all of this was “blown out of proportion.”
“There really wasn’t an argument,” he alleged. “It was at a time in my life when I was actually going through a lot of self-doubt, self-loathing, honestly.”
“It was when I was drinking a lot,” Grammer confessed. “Ted had just come up and said, ‘You know, I’m kind of mad at you that sometimes you don’t show up ready to go.’ And I said, ‘OK, I respect that.’ And that actually was sort of it.”
While it’s sad that a Cheers revival isn’t in the cards, it would certainly be fun to see more Frasier. Here’s hoping that the Frasier revival is brought back, and that both Grammer and Danson star in it!
