The beloved game show Wheel of Fortune is celebrating its fiftieth anniversary this year. To mark the occasion, host Ryan Seacrest gave fans a set tour in a video posted to social media on Tuesday.

Fans were both ecstatic and shocked to see that this video included a cameo from none other than Pat Sajak, who retired from Wheel of Fortune back in June after hosting the game show for 43 years of those 50 years.

Sajak’s Surprise Cameo

The video featured Seacrest walking around the set talking to staffers before he stops in front of a mysterious person.

“As we continue on. This is our former host… Hey Pat!” Seacrest says.

The camera then pans to Sajak, who can be seen eating a sandwich. He waves briefly before longtime co-host Vanna White interrupts to ask Seacrest if he is “ready for a great show.”

Fans Respond

Fans made it clear on social media that they loved Sajak’s cameo.

“Good to see you again Pat!!” one fan commented. Another added, “Pat Sajak’s cameo was a nice touch!”

“Oh, my gosh Pat Sajak is back again!! Hahaha,” a third social media user wrote. An overwhelmed fourth person added, “Y’all are not doing this to me. Y’ALL ARE NOT DOING THIS TO ME!!”

“I KNEW I wasn’t seeing things! Nice to see Pat’s cameo!” someone else commented. One final fan stated, “Good to see Pat again… Funny he was eating at the time lol.”

Another fan had a theory as to why Sajak made this cameo.

“I guess Pat is about to make his special appearance at the end of an episode during this week,” this fan guessed. “I think it’s most likely the Friday episode.”

Only time will tell if that actually happens!

Sajak Retires

Sajak retired from Wheel of Fortune back in June. He had been hosting the game show since 1981.

“Well, the time has come to say goodbye,” he said at the end of his final show. “I have a few thanks and acknowledgments before I go, and I want to start with all of you watching out there. It’s been an incredible privilege to be invited into millions of homes night after night, year after year, decade after decade.”

“And I’ve always felt like the privilege came with the responsibility to keep this daily half hour a safe place for family fun,” Sajak continued. “No social issues, no politics, nothing embarrassing I hope, just a game.”

“But gradually it became more than that,” he concluded. “A place where kids learned their letters, where people from other countries honed their English skills, where families came together along with friends and neighbors, and entire generations. What an honor to play even a small part in all of that. Thank you for allowing me into your lives.”

Sajak’s longtime co-host White has stayed on Wheel of Fortune after extending her contract through at least 2026. She has been co-hosting Wheel of Fortune alongside Seacrest since September.

While Seacrest has done a good job hosting Wheel of Fortune, nobody will ever be able to replace Sajak. If Sajak should ever decide to un-retire, we would definitely love to see him back on Wheel of Fortune again!
