Last month, fans were ecstatic when former NFL star and current New York Mets player Tim Tebow proposed to his girlfriend, former Miss Universe Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters. Now, Tebow is opening up about his engagement, and it seems like things could not be going better with the couple.

“[Being engaged] is awesome. It’s so incredible and we’re so blessed,” said Tebow, according to Fox News. “We’re really enjoying it.”

When asked what made Nel-Peters “the one,” the 31-year-old athlete replied, “Everything.”

“We’re so aligned in what matters most to us and we get along so well,” Tebow continued. “She’s so incredibly special … I almost can’t even put it into words.”

One thing that Tebow and Nel-Peters (who is from South Africa) have in common is their strong Christian faith. Both of them have used their respective platforms as an athlete and an international beauty queen to spread the word of God as much as they can.

“First and foremost all the glory goes to my Heavenly Father and Savior, Jesus Christ,” Nel-Peters wrote on Instagram at the end of 2017. “In Jeremiah 29:11 He makes this promise: ‘For I know the plans I have for you,’ declares the LORD, ‘plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.’ I had a dream of becoming an influential young woman in my country, but His dream for me was so much bigger. I am forever grateful for all the experiences He has blessed me with in my life.”

While Tebow said he is leaving all wedding planning up to his fiancée, he added that their wedding won’t be happening too soon since baseball season is about to start. This will give Nel-Peters, 23, a few months, at least, to plan the wedding of her dreams!

Tebow proposed to Nel-Peters at his family’s farm in Jacksonville, Florida with a 7.25-carat ring.

“Thank you for saying YES and making me the happiest man in the world,” he said at the time. “You’re the love of my life, and I can’t wait to spend the rest of my life with you.”

We’re so happy that Tebow has finally found the woman he has been looking for all these years! We think that these two will make a terrific team and will continue to both help the world and spread Christianity to all.
