The Glimmer Man is on it. Action star and martial arts icon Steven Seagal is Out For Justice and looking to get to the bottom of the “real cause” of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. The On Deadly Ground star believes an “outside entity” is behind the war.
Let’s dive into this.
Regarding Russia’s invasion, Seagal believes that conflict is due to outside influence:
“I look at both as one family and really believe it is an outside entity spending huge sums of money on propaganda to provoke the two countries to be at odds with each other.”
It should be noted that there is no concrete evidence I could find that shows that an “outside entity” is fueling the Russian invasion of a sovereign neighbor.
Seagal Is An Honorary Russian Citizen Citizen
If you’re asking,
“Why is Steven Segal commentating on the Russian Invasion of Ukraine? But more importantly, Hunter why are you writing about it?”
Well, I’ll tell you. Seagal is somewhat of a national hero in Russia, where his martial arts prowess has earned him the affection of Vladimir Putin and an honorary Russian citizen.
#Russia‘s state media reports:
“Russian citizen Steven Seagal was one of the first to arrive to Putin’s inauguration.” pic.twitter.com/kfLgmBInsx— Julia Davis (@JuliaDavisNews) May 7, 2018
Seagal, an actual Aikido blackbelt, has shared his martial arts skills with Putin, who is an avid judo player and martial artist. He is also a “special envoy” for Russia on “humanitarian ties” with the United States.
Seagal has frequently praised Putin and his policies and defended the Russian annexation of Crimea in 2014. Seagal was asked for comment about a fake news story passed around reportedly showing Seagal leading special forces in Ukraine.
Steven Seagal is not fighting for Russia currently. That image going around is from a movie he did in 2016 called Cartels.
All he had to do is Google “cnn Steven Seagal” to see that that news piece does not exist.

Steven Seagal is Banned From Ukraine
Ukraine is Under Seige by Russia, and despite his words of support, Seagal was banned from visiting Ukraine in 2017 because he was a “threat to national security.” And yes, this is 100% real.

Celebrities Can’t NOT Make It About Themselves.
Steven Seagal is just the latest example of a celebrity thinking their thoughts on Ukraine are valid or needed.
However, Seagal’s comments are benign and even welcome compared to this piece of sheer insanity by actress AnnaLynne McCord. The Nip/Tuck and 90210 star thought the best way to end Putin’s aggression would be to read him a poem and imagine herself as his mother.
I’m sure you’ve seen it already. But if you haven’t, I’m sorry to curse you, but I have to share this misery with others.

Ironically, McCord starred in a movie in 2019 called Tone-Deaf.
The online reaction has been predictable to both Seagal and other celebrities.
