After Martellus Bennett announced he would be snubbing Donald Trump and not attending the White House visit, a second Patriots player, Devin McCourty, has come forward saying he would do the same.

McCourty, a defensive back, spoke to Time. “I’m not going to the White House. Basic reason for me is I don’t feel accepted in the White House. With the president having so many strong opinions and prejudices I believe certain people might feel accepted there while others won’t.”

It’s not really a surprise to see McCourty joining Bennett in refusing the trip to the White House given he joined Bennett in protesting the National Anthem in a game in September of last year. Both Bennett and McCourty raised their fists in the air while the National Anthem played.

He’s also retweeted images of protests against Donald Trump.

McCourty’s reasoning seems completely muddled. He makes a blanket statement about how the Mr. Trump apparently has strong opinions and prejudices, but he doesn’t even point out what those are.

And I don’t even get what he means by saying some people might not feel accepted. Mr. Trump has had a bevy of guests from both sides of the political spectrum as well as a number of people from the entertainment industry including NFL legend Jim Brown, Television personality Steve Harvey, and even Kanye West.

Mr. Trump even met with some of his outspoken critics during the campaign such as Mitt Romney.

Mr. McCourty’s reasoning for not attending a White House visit doesn’t hold up under any kind of scrutiny. I wonder what his real reasoning for not attending is?
