On Saturday, the world lost a true legend when Sean Connery, who originated the iconic role of James Bond in the 1960s, passed away at the age of 90. Now, Sean Connery’s widow Micheline is speaking out to reveal what his final moments were like.

Sean Connery’s Widow Recalls The Ravages Of Dementia

Micheline, who was married to Connery for 45 years, shocked the actor’s fans by revealing that he had been suffering from dementia before he died in his sleep at his home in the Bahamas over the weekend.

“It was no life for him,” Micheline, a French-Moroccan painter, told Daily Mail.

“He was not able to express himself latterly. At least he died in his sleep and it was just so peaceful. I was with him all the time and he just slipped away. It was what he wanted. He had dementia and it took its toll on him. He got his final wish to slip away without any fuss.”

Micheline, 91, became Connery’s second wife after meeting him on a golf course in Scotland in 1970.

While she’s saddened by his passing, Micheline has decades of fond memories of the life her and Connery shared together.

“He was gorgeous and we had a wonderful life together,” she said. “He was a model of a man. It is going to be very hard without him, I know that. But it could not last for ever and he went peacefully.”
