Rosie O’Donnell opened up about her time on the ABC talk show “The View” earlier this week, and she shockingly claimed that her former co-host Whoopi Goldberg refused to talk about the sexual assault claims that were made about the disgraced former TV star Bill Cosby after they initially came out.

Goldberg Allegedly Refused To Discuss Bill Cosby

While appearing on the “Now What? With Brooke Shields” podcast on Tuesday, O’Donnell discussed co-hosting “The View” from 2006-2007, and then returning to the program in 2014. By that point, Goldberg was also a co-host, but O’Donnell said that the two of them did not get along very well.

“We clashed in ways that I was shocked by,” O’Donnell said of Goldberg at around the 31 minute mark of the podcast.

O’Donnell went on to say that in 2014, the sexual assault allegations against Cosby were “a big topic” in the news, yet she was denied the chance to discuss them on “The View.”

“I wanted to discuss Bill Cosby and Whoopi did not,” O’Donnell lamented.

Goldberg Finally Addresses Cosby Allegations

It wasn’t until July of 2015, months after O’Donnell left “The View” for a second time, that Goldberg finally discussed the Cosby allegations on the show.

“We’ll see what happens as more information comes out, people will make judgments,” Goldberg said on “The View” on July 7, 2015, according to The Wrap. “I don’t like snap judgments because I’ve had snap judgments made on me, so I’m very very careful…save your texts, save your nasty comments — I don’t care.”

“This is my opinion and in America, still — I know it’s a shock — but you actually were innocent until proven guilty; he has not been proven a rapist,” she continued.

One week later, Goldberg admitted that “if this is to be tried in the court of public opinion, I got to say all of the information that’s out there kind of points to guilt,” according to CNN.

O’Donnell Never Returning To ‘The View’

This entire situation left a bad taste in O’Donnell’s mouth, and she left “The View” for good in February of 2015. In her latest interview with Shields, O’Donnell said that she’d never go on “The View” again.

“I know this, it’s not the best use of my talent to get in a show where I have to argue and defend basic principles of humanity and kindness,” she explained. “It was not something I’d ever do again.”

O’Donnell previously slammed Goldberg as being “mean” during their time together on “The View.”

“Whoopi Goldberg was as mean as anyone has ever been on television to me, personally — while I was sitting there,” O’Donnell said in the 2019 book Ladies Who Punch: The Explosive Inside Story of The View. “Worse than Fox News. The worst experience I’ve ever had on live television was interacting with her.”

“She’s a minority, feminist, smart, funny, groundbreaking legend who is black in America,” she added. “I’m never going to not have respect for Whoopi Goldberg. But that was a painful experience, personally and professionally.”

O’Donnell and Goldberg are two women who are seen as icons by the left, so it comes as somewhat of a surprise that they don’t get along. Then again, they are both liberal elites who have enormous egos, so perhaps the stage on “The View” just wasn’t big enough for the both of them.
