Hollywood star Rose McGowan of Scream and “Charmed” fame spoke out on Thursday to accuse Jennifer Siebel Newsom, the wife of California’s embattled Democratic Governor Gavin Newsom, of trying to get her to bury her allegations that disgraced former Hollywood mogul Harvey Weinstein sexually assaulted her.
McGowan Accuses Siebel Newsom Of Trying To Silence Her
In a new interview, McGowan claimed that Jennifer Siebel Newsom reached out to her about six months before The New York Times published an exposé on Weinstein to try and get her to bury her story.
Here’s McGowan’s recollection:
“David Boies wants to know what it would take to make you happy…”@rosemcgowan tells me that Gavin Newsom’s wife Jennifer called her on behalf of Harvey Weinstein’s lawyer six months before the Weinstein scandal broke to make the story go away. pic.twitter.com/IG99Pb6tvl

“She called me and she set up a meeting with me to meet her somewhere in Brentwood [California],” McGowan alleged. “And I actually went, and I got like very creeped out and I saw her sitting where I was supposed to meet her. And I looked at her and I turned around and went back into my car and drove away.”
“She called me on behalf of a Theranos board member — longtime lawyer of Hillary and Bill Clinton and Weinstein — one David Boies,” McGowan added. “So this woman I don’t know, some blonde lady with the last name Newsom, cold calls me and [says], ‘David Boies wants to know what it would take to make you happy.”

Newsom Backtracks
Siebel Newsom reportedly changed her tune quickly once she saw that the tide was turning against Weinstein. After the Times story came out, and Hollywood turned on Weinstein swiftly, a desperate Siebel Newsom published an oped in the Huffington Post claiming that she believed his victims.
“Based on my years in the industry and unfortunately, my own personal experience with Harvey Weinstein, I can tell you that I believe every single word that was written in the extremely disturbing, but not all that shocking, New York Times piece published yesterday,” she wrote.
“Not all that shocking because very similar things happened to me,” Siebel Newsom added. “I was naïve, new to the industry, and didn’t know how to deal with his aggressive advances ― work invitations with a friend late-night at The Toronto Film Festival, and later an invitation to meet with him about a role in The Peninsula Hotel, where staff were present and then all of a sudden disappeared like clockwork, leaving me alone with this extremely powerful and intimidating Hollywood legend.”

Weinstein Was Protected By Democrats
Weinstein spent years being a Democrat mega-donor, giving big bucks to people like Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton.
That’s why powerful Democrats seemingly turned a blind eye to Weinstein’s crimes for years, even though his sexual misconduct was something of an open secret in Hollywood.
It’s not surprising that Siebel Newsom allegedly wanted McGowan to drop her allegations against Weinstein. Assuming what she’s saying is true, we applaud McGowan for staying strong and defying the Democrat establishment to help take Weinstein down.
