The Hollywood star Alec Baldwin and his wife Hilaria are currently filming a reality show with their seven children. They went into production almost two weeks after the dismissal of Baldwin’s involuntary manslaughter case pertaining to the fatal shooting on the set of his movie Rust.

Now, the former Jon & Kate Plus 8 star Jon Gosselin is speaking out. He’s offering Baldwin a brutal warning about getting involved with reality TV.

Gosselin’s Warning For Baldwin

Gosselin, 47, told Fox News that he “doesn’t think it’s a good idea” for Baldwin, 66, to risk his fame and fortune just to be a reality TV star.

“My advice to Alec is to run the other way,” Gosselin said. “Enjoy your career and your family. And enjoy your life with your kids. We’re all not getting any younger.”

Gosselin rose to fame with his then-wife Kate nearly 15 years ago as the stars of the TLC reality show Jon & Kate Plus 8. The show followed them and their eight children, which consisted of one set of twins and one set of sextuplets.

Jon & Kate Plus 8 was on TLC from  2007 until 2009, when Gosselin and his wife divorced. The show was rebranded the next year as Kate Plus 8, which was on until 2017.

Gosselin Doubles Down

“I was always worried about jumping the shark, which meant, ‘OK, you’re filming this reality show, and then you do something different outside in the public, and now there’s conflict,'” Gosselin said.

“Now you’re going to bring drama because photographers are going to show up because they’re going to try to catch you in that act,” he continued. “Why would you invite drama into your household when all you’ve been trying to do is live, you know, a private life, and then you’re a paid actor.”

Gosselin went on to explain exactly why he thinks Baldwin is making a huge mistake.

“I don’t think it’s a good idea to put your family on television, especially your children,” he said. “You’re a successful actor. You’re already scrutinized for certain things, and now you’re going to put seven children into the public eye. So pretty much you’ve already created this, this massive amount of wealth to protect your family, and now you want to make them public as well? It makes no sense.”

Baldwin and Hilaria, 40, are parents to three daughters: Carmen, Maria and Ilaria. They are also parents four sons: Rafael, Leonardo, Romeo and Eduardo. In addition, Baldwin has a 28 year-old daughter named Ireland, who he shares with his Oscar-winning ex-wife Kim Bassinger.

Baldwin’s Involuntary Manslaughter Case Dismissed

This comes weeks after Baldwin’s involuntary manslaughter case was dismissed by a judge. He had been facing 18 months in prison over the death of Rust cinematographer Halyna Hutchins. She was killed and director Joel Souza was injured when a gun Baldwin was holding went off on the film set in October of 2021.

The case against Baldwin was dismissed after his lawyer argued that there was misconduct by state investigators in not properly disclosing evidence. The case was dismissed with prejudice, meaning that Baldwin cannot be charged again.

Baldwin and his family have certainly had a dramatic few years. Only time will tell if doing a reality show is the right move for them.
