Ozzy Osbourne Backtracks On Wanting To Leave America – ‘I’m American Now’

Over the summer, we reported that the legendary Black Sabbath frontman Ozzy Osbourne had announced plans to leave America and move back to the United Kingdom because of the number of shootings taking place in this country. Now, however, Ozzy appears to be backtracking on this in a big way. 

While Ozzy’s move back to the U.K. still seems to be happening, leaving America is no longer something that he is excited about.

‘If I Had My Way, I’d Stay In America’

“I’m getting a bit of flak from people,” Ozzy, 73, told Consequence. “To be honest with you, if I had my way, I’d stay in America. I’m American now.”

Ozzy went on to say that the decision for his family to leave America actually had more to do with the way his wife Sharon was fired from her gig co-hosting the CBS talk show “The Talk” last year than it did with gun violence. In March of 2021, Sharon was forced off the program after daring to defend her friend Piers Morgan from accusations that he is racist for criticizing Meghan Markle. 

“When my wife got called a racist on [The Talk], she is absolutely not a racist,” Ozzy said. “Her friend is Piers Morgan… She didn’t say, ‘I agree with him.’ She just respected his ability to have freedom of speech. That’s all that she said. And she got a lot of flak from that, so we actually had to have f–king armed guards and all that.”

Sharon Slams Los Angeles

Sharon was also participated in this interview, and she made a point of saying that Los Angeles is no longer the “heaven” that she once thought it was.

“In the ’70s, if you loved music, this was the place to be. It’s not that hub anymore. It’s not exciting anymore. It hasn’t gone sideways, it’s gone down,” she explained. “It’s not a fun place to live. It’s dangerous here. Every big city’s got crime, but I don’t feel safe here. Neither does Ozzy.”

Despite this, Ozzy proceeded to express a strong distaste for leaving this country.

“To be honest with you, I don’t want to go back [to England]. F— that,” he said emphatically.

Ozzy’s Previous Comments

These comments are a direct contrast to what Ozzy said back in August, when he said that he wanted to leave America because of gun violence. 

“Everything’s f—ing ridiculous there. I’m fed up with people getting killed every day,” Ozzy said at the time, according to People Magazine. “God knows how many people have been shot in school shootings. And there was that mass shooting in Vegas at that concert… It’s f—ing crazy.”

“And I don’t want to die in America. I don’t want to be buried in f—ing Forest Lawn,” he continued, referring to the famous Los Angeles cemetery. “I’m English. I want to be back. But saying that, if my wife said we’ve got to go and live in Timbuktu, I’ll go. But, no, it’s just time for me to come home.”

It seems that now that the reality of what leaving America means has hit Ozzy, he’s completely changed his tune. Perhaps the Osbournes should consider leaving the liberal-run state of California to move to a conservative-led state like Texas or Florida, instead of leaving the U.S. altogether.

America is still the greatest country in the world, and there’s no better place to experience that than in a state run by Republicans!
