Crash (2005) – The idea for Crash was born out of a real-life crime
In 1991, screenwriter Paul Haggis and his wife were leaving Blockbuster Video when they were carjacked by two young men at gunpoint who wanted his Porsche. The couple got away unscathed, but Haggis said the mystery behind who those men were haunted him for years.
It wasn’t until decade later, when he was awoken from a bad dream and sat down at his computer to develop the storyline for Crash around his carjacking experience.
