This week, legendary Green Bay Packers quarterback Brett Favre defied the left by pointing out that “fans clearly do not want political messaging mixed with their sports.” Favre’s words conjure up the pre-Kaepernick era of the NFL when it was about football.

Of course, the radical left has since taken over sports like pro football and basketball, politicizing them like never before.

NFL HOF Brett Favre Discusses Politics In Sports With Trump

On Wednesday, President Donald Trump was participating in a Q&A during a Town Hall when moderator Eric Bolling told him that a “friend” wanted to appear via video to ask a question.

This “friend” turned out to be none the NFL Hall of Famer. Brett Favre is a real-life to friend to Trump. In fact, the two were photographed golfing over the summer.

Trump’s famous friend brought up the fact that the NFL has been struggling in the ratings this year, according to the Washington Post.

“The NBA and the NFL are struggling with lower ratings, as fans clearly do not want political messaging mixed with their sports,” Favre said. “So how should the leagues support and promote an anti-racism position without becoming political and alienating fans?”

President Trump Weighs In On Politics In Pro Sports

“People don’t want to see all of the politics,” Trump replied. “They’ve got enough politics, with me and with everybody else. And they don’t want to see it with football or sports, on Sunday or whenever they happen to be watching.”

The president went on to claim that NFL ratings are “down 70 percent, more than that,” and to say that the politicization of sports has had “a huge negative impact on sports.”

“I think that football ought to get back to football and basketball to basketball. And let politics remain separate,” Trump said.

“If people want to protest, they can. But they shouldn’t be protesting on the sidelines during the football game, especially when they are making $10 million a year for something that they’d be doing anyway, for free if they weren’t in the NFL or in the NBA.”

Not stopping there, he added that fans “want to have these players stand and salute, or put their hand over their heart, or at least stand for the national anthem and salute.”

“They’re going to have to start respecting our country,” Trump concluded. “It’s very simple. And you start by respecting our flag.”

This comes after the NFL and the NBA submitted to Black Lives Matter by painting the words of the organization on the sidelines as well as on merchandise and helmets. They have also each donated millions of dollars to Black Lives Matter, which is a political group, make no mistake about it.

Brett Favre Praises Trump

Favre is one of the few celebrities who has been open about his support for President Trump.

“Well, I think the fact that I went and played golf with him, the assumption is that I support him,” he said in an interview earlier this month.

“I think he’s done a good job for our country,” Favre added. Is he perfect? By no means is he perfect. Tell me someone who is perfect other than Jesus Christ, and I’ll call you a liar.”

God bless you, Brett Favre! If only there were more celebrities like you.

If you’re like me and long for the NFL of old – below is a clip from 2001 when Favre and the citizens of Green Bay, Wisconsin put America on their shoulders after 9/11.

Just look at all those American flags waving! And country star Martina McBride gave the National Anthem performance of her life!
