It is with heavy hearts that we inform you of the death of Troy Gentry, one-half of the country music duo Montgomery Gentry. Gentry was just 50 years old.

Gentry was tragically killed in a helicopter crash at approximately 1:00 pm on Friday in Medford, New Jersey. The band posted a message on their Twitter feed informing their fans of Gentry’s death.

Gentry is survived by his wife and two children. The band was currently on tour and were set to perform at a concert Friday night at Flying W Airport and Resort.
Montgomery Gentry had been together since 1999 and had recorded seven albums together. They were nominated for countless awards, including a Grammy, and won one Academy of Country Music Award and one CMA Award.
