Everyone knows that the entire entertainment industry revolves around sex these days. This is unfortunate considering the fact that it sends a message to young people that waiting until marriage to have sex is “uncool.” That’s why it’s so refreshing that Destiny’s Child singer Michelle Williams has just opened up about why she is waiting until marriage to get intimate with her fiancé.

Fox News reported that Williams is engaged to Pastor Chad Johnson, who she has been dating for a year. The public will get a firsthand look at their relationship on the upcoming OWN documentary series “Chad Loves Michelle.” While many reality shows try to get ratings by having their stars engage in casual sex like it is nothing, Williams and Johnson are using their show to promote their traditional views on marriage.

In a promo for their show, Williams and Johnson explained that they “vowed to consummate the relationship only after they are wed.”

“Having been together for a year and never in the same city for more than seven days, the newly engaged couple is turning to intensive pre-marital counseling to help prepare them for life together as husband and wife,” a description of the show read. “Both are relocating to Los Angeles from different cities in the months leading up to their wedding, but not to the same bedroom.”

Destiny’s Child is one of the most popular female vocal groups of all time, and millions of young girls look up to Williams as well as her fellow group members, Beyonce, and Kelly Rowland. In revealing that she is waiting until marriage to consummate her relationship, Williams is sending a message to her young fans that it is perfectly alright for them to wait too. This is in stark contrast to the message Beyonce sends to her impressionable demographic with her sexually explicit songs and revealing outfits. Though Beyonce may be more famous than Williams, it’s clear that the latter is a far better role model.

Sex is something that should not be taken lightly and is far more special with someone that you love. We need more stars like Williams to come forward and promote waiting until marriage to their fans!
