Family Feud has been making Americans laugh at everyday people’s answers since 1976, with millions watching contestants try to guess the most popular responses to seemingly simple survey questions. From “porkCUPINE” to “José with an H,” these viral moments left the hosts, contestants, and viewers doubled over in laughter. Today, we’re counting down the top 10 funniest answers on Family Feud that prove sometimes the best response is the wrong one.
“The Mona Lisa”

First up on our list of the funniest answers on Family Feud came when Steve Harvey asked a family to “Name something specific of Leonardo DiCaprio’s that you’d like to hold.” After the mother correctly answered and passed the question to her team, it seemed like they had it in the bag. But, then her son confidently buzzed in with “The Mona Lisa!” The entire studio erupted in laughter.
The mix-up between Leonardo DiCaprio and Leonardo da Vinci immediately had Steve Harvey in tears. Steve followed this answer up by saying “If it’s up there, I’m going home!“. And, the funniest part in this one was the son didn’t even realize his mistake! In the end, this has become one of those funniest Family Feud answers caused by a simple case of confused Leonardos.
“José With an H!”

Next up comes a legendary Family Feud moment when Steve Harvey asked contestants to “Name a boy’s name that starts with the letter ‘H’.”
Without hesitation, the male contestant slammed his hand on the podium and shouted “JOSÉ!” with all of his conviction. While the other contestants in his family started clapping, caught up in his enthusiasm, Harvey stood there just trying to process what he’d just heard. I mean, we all know José does NOT have an H in it!
Finally, Harvey broke down laughing and yelled back “JOSÉ… WITH AN H!”. It was one of the show’s most quotable moments and perfectly capturing the absurdity that makes Family Feud special.

“September”

As an older addition to our list of the funniest answers on Family Feud came during the Fast Money Round when ex- host, Richard Dawson, asked Cathy, the contestant, “In which month does a woman’s pregnancy begin to show?”
Unexpectedly, she answered the question with “September”. Immediately, she realized how ridiculous that was for an answer, laughing at her own mistake. Meanwhile, Dawson also died laughing.
“Orange”

Another one of the funniest answers on Family Feud was when a contestant was asked to “Name a yellow fruit.” Without missing a beat, the young contestant quickly answered with “Orange!”. The beauty of this moment wasn’t just in the answer, it was watching her face contort from absolute certainty to realizing her own words caught up with her.
As the audience burst into laughter, her expression of pure “Oh no…” made this hilarious answer a perfect example of how sometimes the wrong answer is the right entertainment.
“Atlanta”

Next in our lineup, a contestant faced what seemed like an easy question. “Name a U.S. state where people say ‘y’all.'” She buzzed in quickly with “Atlanta!”.
Of course, the big red X appeared on the board, which got even better when her opponent correctly answered “Georgia.” As she walked back to her team, the contestant held up her hand and laughed at mixing up a city with a state. Yet again, a contestant’s brain moved faster than their mouth, earning this funny answer a spot on our list.
“Naked Grandma”

In the next spot on our list of the funniest moments on Family Feud, Steve Harvey asked contestants to “Name something a burglar would not want to see when they break into a house.” Without missing a beat, one contestant slammed the buzzer and shouted “NAKED GRANDMA!” at the top of his lungs.
As his opponent quipped that he wouldn’t want to see that either, Harvey just stood there in disbelief. Harvey also admitted that “nobody wants to see that” and that he was certain it wouldn’t be on the board.
But the real shock came when the answer actually appeared as “occupant” with 33 points, sending the contestant into celebration while Harvey stared at his judges like they’d lost their minds.
“A Gerbil”

Another moment that left even Steve Harvey at a loss for words was when he asked contestants to “Name what a doctor pulls out of a person.” One contestant, Darci, instantly blurted out “A gerbil!”. She immediately started shaking her head, as if she could take it back.
As her opponent Manny burst into laughter, Harvey stood in stunned silence, processing what he’d just heard. When Darci tried to backtrack, claiming “I didn’t say that!” and mumbling something about “hearing about something like that once,” Harvey wouldn’t let her escape.
“Yes, yes you said it… First thing, BAM! Gerbil, just like that!”. Unsurprisingly, this particularly unusual medical procedure didn’t make it onto the board’s top answers, but definitely earned it a spot on our list!
“Kentucky Fried Chicken”

As already seen before, the Fast Money round can make contestants crack under pressure, as Darryl proved spectacularly. When asked to “Name a man’s name that starts with the letter K,” he bizarrely responded with “Kentucky Fried Chicken!”.
His embarrassed grin said it all, but Richard Karn had already moved to the next question “Name a food that’s red on the inside.” Darryl still went with ‘kiwi’, but he and Karn had a good chuckle about it afterwards.
“Cupine”

Last but certainly not least on our list is one of the funniest answers on Family Feud, when Steve Harvey asked contestants to “Name something that follows the word pork.” The first contestant sensibly answered “loin,” and after it was passed, her competitor logically went with “belly.” But when it came back to the first family, the son confidently buzzed in with “CUPINE!”
Harvey’s face froze in disbelief before he turned to the audience and asked, “What is a cupine??”. Still shaking his head in amazement, Harvey joked that this answer was definitely going viral on YouTube. And sure enough, it did exactly that, but on TikTok, becoming one of the show’s funniest wrong answers.
