Baz Luhrmann, known for his big-budget productions of Romeo + Juliet and The Great Gatsby, has returned to the big screen with a biopic of the King himself, Elvis. Before the film premiere this weekend, Elvis’ family, including daughter Lisa Marie and grandaughter Riley Keough had a look at the movie. And they loved it.

“It Brings Up Generational Trauma…In Such A Good Way.”

Lisa Marie noted the film’s emotional weight and how it brought her and her daughter to tears.

“And Riley, 5 minutes in, was already like, ‘I’m done.’ She was already crying and I was crying,”

I can’t imagine what it is like to be the daughter of the greatest entertainer of all time, much less see a movie depicting all of his ups and downs.

The Presleys attended the premier at Graceland.

Elvis tells the story of the King from his early days growing up in Mississippi to becoming the most significant musical icon of all time. The film pays tribute to those who influenced Presley equally and reveals how he developed his unique rock/blues/country style.

Lisa Marie’s History

Lisa Marie had a budding music career at one point. However, besides being the King’s Daughter, she is most well-known for marrying Michael Jackson.

Lisa Marie has been married four times, including to Jackson and Nicholas Cage. Her marriage to Danny Keough ended in 1994 but produced two children, one of which is well-known actress and model Riley Keough.

Riley and her brother were raised primarily by their father on his Hawaiian estate. Riley is set to star in the upcoming Amazon Prime show Daisy Jones & The Six. She was also a fan of the Elvis biopic and praised it after a private screening.

My Thoughts On An Elvis BioPic

I love Elvis; his effect on music is not appreciated nearly enough. Frankly, I am very skeptical of this movie. Baz Luhrmann tends to focus on flash at the expense of substance. But early reviews look good, with many praising Luhrmann’s maximalist style and Austin Butler’s turn as Elvis.

I think I will wait to see this when it comes to streaming, but I will be looking forward to seeing it nonetheless.
