It’s been months since Will Smith slapped Chris Rock on March 27, 2022, at the Oscars. But the story just won’t go away. Smith has been incognito since the attack. But the media is hungry for more drama.

So in his absence, his friends, former coworkers, and people with no connection to Smith or Rock have been asked to speak on the issue.

Comic and actor Kevin Hart was asked about Smith’s current state. The short-statured comedian shared how Smith was doing as well as his own thoughts on the incident.

The Only Worthwhile Thing To Come Out Of The Controversy

The good thing to come from the incident is this funny breakdown of The Slap:

Pretty epic.

Hart: “Will Is Apologetic”

Speaking to Entertainment Tonight to promote his new film, League Of SuperPets, Hart opened up about Smith.

“Will is apologetic,” he said. “You know, he’s in a better space, of course, than what he was after.”

I would certainly hope so. Hart seemed sympathetic to Smith’s agony over the incident.

“People are human,” he said, “and as humans sometimes we make mistakes. So it’s not about talking about the past, it’s about acknowledging the present and doing your best to move forward.”

Not Everyone Is Willing To Participate In The Drama

Some Hollywood hot shots aren’t game for the endless questions about The Slap.

Michael Bay said, “Hollywood gets very self-absorbed. There are babies getting blown up in the Ukraine right now. We should be talking about that. I really don’t care.”

(Of course, he went on to say, “I’ve worked with him. He’s not that guy. I’ve never seen him lose his cool like that. I thought it was a set up because I saw his smirk. I’ve been on set when Will has screwed with people and joked with people. It was a slap. Not a punch. He’s very good at fighting, he’s trained at that. It’s wrong to begin with. Then I knew the yell… he was mad.”)

Bay worked with Smith on the ‘Bad Boys’ franchise.

‘Harry Potter’ star Daniel Radcliffe, who has no connection to Will Smith, was asked about it on ‘Good Morning Britain.’

“I saw it,” he said. “I’m just so already dramatically bored of hearing people’s opinions about it that I just don’t want to be another opinion adding to it.”

Is Will Smith Done in Hollywood?

There’s an old joke that once you win your Oscar, sometimes Hollywood is done with you. This may be true with Will Smith as well.

Smith has had several projects canceled or put on hold due to his violent outburst. The Academy, which still granted him the award, banned Smith for ten years and stripped him of his Academy membership.

The whole thing is ridiculous and frankly shows how morally bankrupt Hollywood is. Jim Carey described the situation best immediately after the incident.

Carey called Hollywood “spineless” and that the incident showed that “we weren’t the cool kids anymore.”

Could any other person have been allowed to return to their seat after getting on stage and striking the host? Of course not. But because Hollywood protects the powerful at all costs, Will Smith was allowed to go free.

Now, I don’t fault Chis Rock for not pressing charges. I understand Smith is under a lot of pressure and might not have been in the best frame of mind. Rock probably wanted to move on, and without a lawsuit, he’s free to tell plenty of jokes about it.

Internet Reactions To Kevin Hart & Will Smith

Smith has been silent since the incident and his emotional award speech/apology. So some are wondering why others are speaking for him.

I disagree with this. I don’t think Smith owed an apology to anyone other than Rock and maybe his wife and the Academy an apology.
