Potterheads, get ready! A new HBO series of your favorite story is on its way to your homes. And we finally have answers on who will play Professor Albus Dumbledore.
Recent reports have confirmed that John Lithgow will play Dumbledore in the new HBO Harry Potter series.

In the movie franchise, Richard Harris played the role in the first two movies, while Michael Gambon took over the role after Harris’s death in 2002. Both were the iconic faces of Professor Albus Dumbledore, and fans are excited to see Lithgow take on the role.
John Lithgow, age 79, reported to ScreenRant that the offer to play as Dumbledore came as a total surprise. He also talked about his hesitance with the decision, as “it’s going to define me for the last chapter of my life,” although he says he’s excited and passionate about the project.

As for more cast members, not much else has been confirmed. Unfortunately, there hasn’t been news about the main trio, besides several young actors and actresses auditioning. Besides that, there have been rumors that Paapa Assiedu might be Professor Severus Snape. And Sharon Horgan has been eyed for Minerva McGonagall’s role, while Brett Goldstein has rumors of being a great Rubeus Hagrid.
But when should you expect to see the Harry Potter series? HBO has officially started working on the Harry Potter TV series reboot for 2027. In the show, Harry, Ron, Hermione, and the rest of the Hogwarts crew will be coming back to the screen. While the finale of the movie franchise was 15 years ago, fans haven’t forgotten about the series for a second.
The series was announced in April 2023 at a press event for Warner Bros. According to the reports, the series will follow along with the original books, not a new concept, with each season detailing one book in the novel series.
