Étoile is the name of the new series from Amy Sherman-Palladino and Dan Palladino, featuring Maisel star Luke Kirby and award-winning French actress Charlotte Gainsbourg. Here’s everything we know about the series, including how to watch Étoile.

First, what is the show even about?

Prime Video’s new original series was given two seasons before the cameras even started rolling, which means this is not a show you want to miss. The show focuses on the dancers and artistic staff of two world-renowned ballet companies who embark on an ambitious gambit to save their storied institutions by swapping their most talented stars.

Bunheads fans, who were disappointed about the show’s cancellation in 2013, are really in for a treat with this series.

All eight episodes of the first season were released on Prime Video today, on April 24th. Since the series is an Amazon Original, you’ll need an Amazon Prime membership with a Prime Video subscription to tune in.

If you’re not a Prime member, then you can use the 30-day free trial on Amazon Prime before payments begin. After the first free month, subscription costs $14.99 a month.

After you’re through with the first season, don’t worry! Prime Video announced in 2023 that the series had been given a two-season order, so there’s guaranteed to be a second season on the way.

But let’s talk about the amazing cast of Étoile. While we know that the cast is led by Luke Kirby, who won an Emmy for his portrayal of Lenny Bruce in The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, as well as acclaimed French actress Charlotte Gainsbourg, who else is in the show?

Broadway talents Gideon Glick and David Alvarez will also appear in the series, alongside Lou de Laâge, Ivan du Pontavice, Taïs Vinolo, LaMay Zhang, and Simon Callow.
