‘It Feels As Though We lost A Friend’

Daily Mail reported that Andrews responded to the Queen’s death with praise for her “love, wisdom, and grace.”

“A page in history has turned today,” said Andrews, who played the dowager Queen of the fictional country of Genovia in the 2001 hit movie The Princess Diaries.

“Along with millions of others, I mourn the passing of our beloved Queen Elizabeth II,” she expressed. “It feels as though we lost a friend: a dedicated Monarch who inspired all of us with her love, wisdom and grace.”

“May we honor her by holding to the standards she set for herself and her nation,” Andrews concluded.

Queen Dies ‘Peacefully’

This comes after the Queen died “peacefully” at her Balmoral estate in Scotland on Thursday following a record-breaking 70 years on the British throne. Senior royals tried to rush to her bedside to be there with her when she passed, but it is speculated that most of them did not make it in time.

Sources have said that only the Queen’s oldest two children, Prince Charles and Princess Anne, were able to be there with her when she died. The two of them happened to already be in Scotland when the Queen’s health took a sudden turn for the worse.

Following the Queen’s passing, her son Charles acceded to the throne as King Charles III on Wednesday afternoon. Meanwhile, Prince William is now the new “heir apparent” to the British throne, and he’s inherited what was his father’s title, becoming along with his wife Kate the Duke and Duchess of Cornwall and Cambridge.

Trump Honors Queen

Tributes for the Queen have been pouring in from all over the world in the wake of her death.

“Melania and I are deeply saddened to learn of the loss of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II,” said former President Donald Trump, according to People Magazine. “Together with our family and fellow Americans, we send our sincere condolences to the Royal Family and the people of the United Kingdom during this time of great sorrow and grief.”

He went on, “Queen Elizabeth’s historic and remarkable reign left a tremendous legacy of peace and prosperity for Great Britain,” adding, “Her leadership and enduring diplomacy secured and advanced alliances with the United States and countries around the world. However, she will always be remembered for her faithfulness to her country and her unwavering devotion to her fellow countrymen and women.”

Biden Honors Queen

The BBC reported that President Joe Biden paid tribute to the Queen as well, saying that she was “more than a monarch – she defined an era,” adding that “she charmed us with her wit, moved us with her kindness, and generously shared with us her wisdom.”

“Queen Elizabeth II was a stateswoman of unmatched dignity constancy who deepened the bedrock of the Alliance between the United Kingdom and the United States,” Biden continued. “She helped make our relationship special.”

But it’s really Andrews who said it best when she said that losing the Queen feels like losing a dear friend. We as a planet will undoubtedly be mourning this loss for a long time to come.
