Cher Turns 77 – ‘When Will I Feel Old?’

Cher celebrated her 77th birthday on Saturday by taking to Twitter to talk about aging.

“Ok, Will Someone PLEASE Tell me… When Will I Feel OLD. This is ridiculous,” Cher wrote. “I keep hearing these numbers, but I Honestly can’t understand them. WHATS THE DEAL WITH #’s!? I’m dyslexic & #’s Are hard 4 me.”

“Thank u for staying, I know it’s been hard,” she continued. “Got to go work out. Twitter is harder for me than TweetBot.”

Cher Hates Aging

Cher previously opened up to The Guardian about how she really feels about aging in a 2020 interview.

“What, I’m going to say I like it? No, I don’t. Any woman who is honest will say it’s not as much fun,” she said at the time. “When I was working on the road we used to work two shows a night and then go out dancing all night long,” but these days, “It’s like we’ve got to rest because you’ve got another night.”

When asked if plastic surgery has helped to lengthen her career, Cher replied, “You don’t pay bucks to stand and look at someone. They’ve got to deliver something.”

Cher went on to credit exercise with helping her to stay fit.

“I’ve worked my whole life to keep my strength in my body. There are 20-year-old girls who can’t do what I do,” she said.

Last year, Cher talked to Allure about how she feels about being described as an “icon.”

“In my mind, an icon has always got to be old to be iconic. I can’t think [I’m] old yet,” she explained. “It’s fun but I don’t take it seriously because…does it mean you’ve just lasted longer than everybody else?”

Cher’s Dating Life – Death Of Her Mother

Cher is currently dating Alexander “A.E.” Edwards, who is forty years younger than she is, according to Fox News.

“On paper, it’s kind of ridiculous,” Cher said of their romance in a December interview. “But in real life, we get along great.”

That same month, Cher tragically lost her mother Georgia Holt, who passed away at the age of 96 in December of 2022.

“The truth…. She’s been Sick, &rallying, she then got bad. She was in so much pain,” Cher tweeted afterwards. “Finally she coded on [the] way to Hosp. By time we Got to Hosp….The Woman who Who Was MY KICK ASS MOM was No long[er] Here.”

As Cher reflected on Holt, she described her mother to People Magazine as being “so beautiful” and being an “amazing dresser.” She also admitted that since she’s “really strong-headed” herself, she and Holt “fought a lot.”

“I did a couple of things like running away when I was 11,” Cher added. “I hopped a train with my friends. I was just very adventurous — but never disrespectful. She wouldn’t have put up with that.”

With her mom living to be nearly 100, Cher clearly has some very good genes that could keep her around for quite awhile. We may not agree with Cher much on politics and social issues, but we still hope that she had a good birthday, and has many more to come!
