Cher, 76, Says She And Her 36 Year-Old Boyfriend Kiss ‘Like Teenagers’

We previously reported that Cher, 76, is dating Alexander “AE” Edwards, who is forty years younger than her. Now, Cher is opening up about their relationship to give more details about it than anyone was asking for. 

Cher Gushes Over Boyfriend

Cher initially took to Twitter to post a photo of her much younger boyfriend.

In the replies of this tweet, Cher engaged with fans to gush over Edwards, doing so with her characteristic misspellings and bizarre abbreviations. 

“He’s 36 & In End He Came after me,Till we met in the middle,” she wrote. “He’s Consistent one ,I’m The Skittish one. We love each other…. LADIES NEVER GIVE UP. Neither One Wanted2 Make LONG. TRIP 2 Paris & Then PARIS WAS MAGIC,NEBI WANTED 2 C A.EGrill, Must say he was different 4 Me.”

When asked what she loves most about her boyfriend, Cher replied, “He’s Kind, Smart, Hilarious… & We [kiss emoji] Like Teenagers.”

When one fan called Edwards “so handsome,” Cher replied with a tweet in all capital letters: 

“I DONT GIVE MEN QUALITIES THEY DONT POSSESS.ITS A RECIPE 4 DISASTER. HES”NOT”HIS TATS, HAIR COLOR,DIMOND GRILL. I [heart emoji] HIM BECAUSE HE WASNT AFRAID.HES KIND,HILARIOUS, SMART,TALENTED, BEAUTIFUL.WE TALK & LAUGH.WE R PERFECTLY MATCHED. DO I WISH I WAS YOUNGER,YAH,I’M NOT BOO FKN HOO.”

People Magazine reported that Cher went public with her relationship with Edwards, who shares a 3 year-old son with the model Amber Rose, earlier this month. 

“LOVE DOESN’T KNOW MATH, IT SEES [two heart emojis],” Cher wrote in a tweet that has since been deleted.

Cher’s History

Cher was previously married to the late Sonny Bono, with whom she formed the singing duo Sonny & Cher, from 1964 until they divorced in 1975. She then married Gregg Allman from the Allman Brothers Band, who she stayed with from 1975 until they divorced in 1979. 

While Cher hasn’t married again, she’s dated various celebrities, including the Batman Forever star Val Kilmer. The couple started dating in 1982, when Cher was 36 and Kilmer was just 22, and they stayed together for two years. Last year, Cher admitted in an essay for People Magazine that she “still loves” Kilmer all these years later. 

“He’s like nobody I’ve ever known,” she wrote. “He is exasperating and hysterical. Thrilling and funny, and doesn’t do what anyone else does. I don’t know how we stayed friends, we just did. We didn’t try. We just were.”

Edwards’ Friend Weighs In

Ryan Fluis, who was in the rap group 4Deep with Edwards years ago, talked to Page Six about how he found out his friend was dating Cher.

“I think I spotted a picture of AE and Cher on Instagram,” Fluis said. “AE’s blond hair popped up and then I saw Cher and to say I was blown away was an understatement. I called the other guys right away.”

However, this was not a complete surprise to Fluis.

“He’s got a gift. My mom’s always called him ‘Eddie Haskell,’” he explained, referring to the character on the 1950s sitcom “Leave It to Beaver” who was known for sucking up to grownups.

“He’s always been like that,” Fluis added. “He’s a real cool dude with a lot of personality and charisma and he knows how to kiss ass. Always did. So in a way it would make sense he’d wind up with someone like Cher.”

While Cher and Edwards are grown adults who can do as they please, forty years certainly is a big age gap to overcome! Only time will tell if their romance will actually be able to go the distance, and it will be interesting to see how it turns out.
