On an Instagram post, Jonathan LaPaglia spoke about the recent news, stating that it was one of the “craziest” blindsides of all time. He mentioned that the reason behind this was that the next season was “going in a different direction.”
LaPaglia admitted that the ratings were dropping, so the series wanted to do something drastic to get more views. He goes on to say that hosting Survivor “has been one of the greatest adventures of my career.”
“I have loved and will dearly miss the immensely talented crew, all the crafty players, and our loyal sassy audience.”
So what does this mean for Australian Survivor? From Australian Survivor: All Stars winner David Genat, a.k.a. the Golden God, has been chosen to replace iconic Jonathan LaPaglia as Survivor’s new host.
Not only did he appear as a contestant three times on Australian Survivor, but he also won a record $5.8 million on Deal or No Deal Island in America. But now he’s back to his roots to host instead of participating.
“I have so much respect for Australian Survivor,” Genat said on an Instagram post. “This game has changed my life. I love the players, I love the community of fans and I love the crew who make it happen. As the new host of Australian Survivor, I won’t let you down.”
As Australian Survivor‘s new host, David Genat will start his career in 2026 with Australian Survivor: Redemption on Network 10. While there is no official release date yet, keep checking back for more information.
