There was a time when Hollywood was pumping out television shows that could allow the American people to escape the problems of the world and forget about politics. Sadly, those days are now gone, as most television shows have become sickening propaganda tools for the left.

The National Review cites the Hulu show “The Handmaid’s Tale” as an example of how disgustingly political Hollywood has become. The show revolves around Offred, a young wife and mother kidnapped by agents in a theocratized United States so that she can be repeatedly victimized by ritualized rape and forced surrogacy. The show believes itself to be a critique of Christianity while it is actually of critique of Islam, and it has no subtlety whatsoever as the leftwing writers are clearly trying to say that our nation is headed in this same direction in the age of Donald Trump.

Most other television shows also have a liberal spin these days, as the left is even using comedy shows to lecture Americans about the “evils” of Trump. “Saturday Night Live” is known for its humorous portrayals of presidents regardless of their political affiliations, yet Alec Baldwin’s portrayal of Trump on the show is so angry and bitter that it is impossible to laugh at. Even former cast members of the NBC show have spoken out to point this out.

“The fun of ‘Saturday Night Live’ was always you never knew which way they leaned politically,” former cast member Rob Schneider recently told The New York Daily News. “You kind of assumed they would lean more left and liberal, but now the cat’s out of the bag they are completely against Trump, which I think makes it less interesting because you know the direction the piece is going.”

He then contrasted Baldwin’s portrayal to Dana Carvey’s impression of George H.W. Bush.

“Carvey played it respectfully,” Schneider said. “To me, the genius of Dana Carvey was Dana always had empathy for the people he played, and Alec Baldwin has nothing but a fuming, seething anger toward the person he plays.”

“I don’t find his impression to be comical,” Schneider added. “Because, like I said, I know the way his politics lean and it spoils any surprise. There’s no possible surprise. He so clearly hates the man he’s playing.”

The dramatic television show “Homeland” devoted an entire season to the main character fighting back against a president whom writers were clearly trying to portray as Trump-like. The youthful comedy “Broad City,” which was never political in the past, bleeped Trump’s name every time it was uttered this past season as if it was an expletive. The list of anti-Trump, overly-political television shows goes on and on.

The left wants the American people to believe that with Trump in office, we are living in a time of crisis. They want everyone to be living in fear and feel as if the sky is falling so that by the time 2020 rolls around, everyone will vote against Trump. In the end, Hollywood may eventually regret this, as all they are doing is causing millions of Americans to turn off their televisions in disgust.
