Surprising new reports are coming in stating that yet another one of Meghan Markle’s staffers has quit less than a year after she joined the British royal family.
Fox News reported that Meghan’s assistant private secretary Amy Pickerill has quit and will be leaving her post after the birth of the Duchess of Sussex’s first child next month. Royal sources are claiming that there is no bad blood involved in Pickerill’s departure, as she is planning to move out of the country.
“They will stay in touch and Amy will remain as a personal adviser to her in the longer term. They are very close,” a source said. “It is very amicable.”
Many of Meghan’s staffers have already quit
Even so, many find it suspicious that this is the fourth staffer of Meghan’s to quit since she joined the British royal family last May. Earlier this year, we reported that one of Meghan’s top bodyguards had quit as the Duchess continued to struggle to get used to the heightened security that comes with being a royal.
“Unlike someone who has grown up in the royal family and has been used to having close protection from an early age, it can be constraining,” a royal source said at the time. “Even though [Meghan] was a famous actress, she could still do what she wanted in the way of getting around freely. But in her current role, she can’t go anywhere without her protection team, and that’s a massive constraining force on an individual like her.”
Back in November, Meghan’s personal assistant Melissa Touabti quit after just six months on the job, and weeks later, Meghan’s aide Samantha Cohen also left her position. All of this turnover has led to rumors spreading that Meghan is difficult to work with.
While it certainly is odd that so many of Meghan’s staffers have quit in such a short period of time, it’s important to remember that this is a time of great transition for the Duchess. Adjusting to life as a royal is not easy, and it may take some time for Meghan to find the perfect staff for her. Hopefully, Meghan is not too stressed about this right now and is instead focused on the upcoming birth of her baby.
