Vince McMahon has strange preferences when it comes to pushing individual stars as the face of the company. While it has worked out for Roman Reigns, Vince is now seeing something special in Lacey Evans, a relatively inexperienced wrestler with quite a bit of charisma. Here’s the story!

Facing Asuka at WrestleMania

Lacey Evans

A couple of days ago, I wrote about the rumor that Lacey Evans could be Asuka’s opponent at WrestleMania. Naturally, this could mean a major push for the former NXT beauty, which Vince apparently wants to push as the Lady of the WWE.

Some Problems with the Push

Lacey Evans

Before I elaborate, let me first state that I do believe in Lacey Evans and that she will become a great female wrestler. That being said, she seriously lacks experience for the position she is finding herself in. She’s not bad at any means though, but she only has five years of wrestling experience and barely a year in NXT.

One of the additional problems facing Evans is that the company has done nothing to build her as a wrestler. Over the past couple of weeks, she has been walking up and down the wrestling ramp, but that is about it. How is the crowd supposed to take her seriously if she cannot wrestle inside the ring and show us what she can do?

Taking Over Ronda Rousey’s Spot

Ronda Rousey

Despite a large number of proven talent on the WWE roster, Vince reportedly wants Evans to take Ronda Rousey’s spot when she leaves after WrestleMania.

I can somewhat see where Vince got the idea. Evans got a background as a tough woman, even working a job as a bouncer. Ronda Rousey did not have a lot of wrestling experience either, but she did have a background in mixed martial arts and judo.

In short, Evans has the character to take over from Ronda, but does she have the in-ring acumen? Hopefully, the company will invest a bit more in her training in weeks to come if they plan to have her face Asuka.
