After incurring a quick loss to Germaine de Randamie earlier this year, Aspen Ladd returned to the win column tonight by taking out former Invicta FC champ, Yana Kunitskaya.
Round one
Kunitskaya looked to work her clinch game early and both women threw some big shots in the breaks. Kunitskaya clinched up again but Ladd eventually countered with a takedown. Ladd planted a couple of elbows from above, and Kunitskaya proceeded to give up her back. Ladd fired down numerous punches from above, but Kunitskaya managed to scramble to the top position right before the round ended.
Round two
Ladd charged out in round two and threw some heavy punches. Kunitskaya mixed in some kicks during the opening minute of the frame. Ladd attempted to take the fight down but Kunitskaya defended. Clinch work ensued but after Ladd broke free, she scored with a takedown. The latter controlled the position from the top for the remainder of the round.
Round three
Ladd came flying out in round three and floored Kunitskaya with a booming left. Ladd followed up from above with a vicious flurry of punches, and the fight was called. Ladd returns to the win column with a highlight reel finish.
