Jared Cannonier recorded the biggest win of his career tonight at UFC 237, by stopping the legendary Anderson Silva with a thumping leg kick.
Cannonier pressed forward right out of the gate and threw the odd leg kick. Silva didn’t fire off much in the first couple of minutes, while Cannonier continued to throw the occasional kick and punch. Silva started to pick it up as the round went on, but Cannonier proceeded to score with a couple of big rights. In the final minute, Silva started to press forward but Cannonier countered with a pounding kick behind the knee that sent the legend to the deck. The fight was immediately called off by ref Herb Dean, and Silva was visibly in considerable pain.
After the bout, Silva told Jon Anik that he was dealing with some sort of knee injury in training camp.
