The prelims for UFC 229 are over in Las Vegas, Nevada, and Jussier “Formiga”, Vicente Luque and Aspen Ladd were among the winners.
In the prelim’s feature attraction, “Formiga’s” takedowns and grappling proved to be enough to get by Sergio Pettis with a unanimous decision victory. Pettis never appeared to be in any serious danger, but he had no answers for “Formiga” on the ground or in the clinch.
Both Luque and Ladd scored impressive, first round victories. Luque bombed out Jalin Turner with booming punches from above, while Ladd brought about a stoppage of veteran Tony Evinger, with a vicious, series of ground-and-pound strikes.
Scott Holtzman also recorded a brutal KO, as he put away Alan Patrick with thumping elbows from mount.
