As a wrestling reporter, I watch an incredible amount of wrestling. Lately, my interest in the WWE has been dwindling, and I’ve become more interested in some of the indies. If you are tired of the WWE and want something different to watch this month, be sure to check out my following suggestions!
Impact Wrestling
Despite some of the problems the company has been facing since the loss of the Hardy Boyz and having Alberto El Patron as their champion, Impact Wrestling is certainly one of the indies to watch!
Not only will you come across a former WWE superstar quite regularly, including Gail Kim, there is some Impact Wrestling talent you certainly need to check out; this includes EC3, Rosemary, Sienna, Moose, and LAX.
While the overall product of Impact Wrestling seems like a light version of the WWE, once you start watching a couple of episodes, you will find it has some great storylines and amazing talent.
Ring of Honor
Many WWE superstars who are huge stars today, including Kevin Owens, Seth Rollins, and AJ Styles, have been on ROH. So, by watching Ring of Honor, you will undoubtedly discover some future WWE wrestlers.
Of course, this is not the only reason why you should watch Ring of Honor. Firstly, you can catch up with wrestlers who asked for their release from the WWE, including Cody Rhodes and Bubba Ray Dudley (Bully Ray). There is also some incredible upcoming talent you cannot afford to miss; this includes Mandy Leon!
Want to watch some ROH without having to buy anything? No problem, because ROH releases ROH TV on their website for free! Well, nothing is as sweet as a free wrestling match!
Lucha Underground
One of my personal favorite indies is Lucha Underground. One of the reasons why I say this is my favorite is the quirkiness of the entire wrestling show. What got me hooked? A line-up of Rey Mysterio and a mariachi band to kick off the show!
If you are afraid you will only see luchadors at Lucha Underground, you would be wrong! There is also room for powerhouses, so this show has everything you need!
One thing that truly stood out for me about Lucha Underground is undoubtedly the soap opera style storyline. While it might be a little stereotypical Mexican, it is one of the most fun things I have encountered where the creative part of wrestling is concerned.
Other Indies You Need to Watch!
I’ve covered the three major indies that you should watch, but there are others you should be giving a try. Among countless other deserving indies, be sure to have a look at New Japan, Explosive Pro Wrestling, Lucha Libre Triple A Worldwide, and more.
Have you watched any of the indies? Or are you thinking to move away from WWE to an indie wrestling promotion? Let us know which indies you find more interesting in the comment section below! We look forward to reading your unsalted opinions!
