UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov watched as Dustin Poirier became the interim lightweight champion and his likely next challenger Saturday night.
Poirier scored a decision victory over reigning featherweight champion Max Holloway from Atlanta live on pay-per-view.
And just as “The Diamond” called out Nurmagomedov, the unbeaten “Eagle” followed on Twitter.
“I don’t agree with the judges 49-46, I got a draw, my respect to both fighters and Poirier’s achievement so far cannot be denied,” he wrote. “My congratulations Dustin, see you in September.”

Nurmagomedov is currently serving a suspension for his role in a post-fight brawl with Conor McGregor last year after making his first title defense.
