Speculation that Khabib Nurmagomedov is not done fighting just yet is likely going to spike, as the undefeated star’s reporting he’s still in the United States Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) testing pool.
Nurmagmoedov reports taking his 47th USADA test since 2015
As you surely know, Nurmagomedov shocked the MMA world last month when after defeating Justin Gaethje, he announced he was retiring. Leading up to the fight, the belief was that if Khabib won, he’d return to the Octagon to pursue the 30-0 mark.
But, the lightweight champ said after his father passed away earlier this year, he promised his mother that UFC 254 would be his final bout.
Since then, Nurmagomedov has said in a couple of public appearances that he is retired. But, others, like Dana White, have opined that the fighter could be leaning towards fighting again.
Well, more recently, the Dagestani star shared out the comments and the picture below.
This is 47 times since 2015, as I have been tested for doping of Usada. Just think about this number.
What could it mean?
Now, sure, this news doesn’t mean that we will Khabib fight again. But, one could certainly conclude from it that it indicates he’s not 100% certain his career is done.
It’s also interesting since if Khabib had left the testing pool, he’d need to wait another six months after re-enrolling, in order to fight again. So, this could also indicate that Khabib wants the flexibility of being able to fight again, within a fairly short window of time, if required.
