Jake “The Snake” Roberts – AEW Status

Jake Roberts - AEW Status

None other than WWE Hall of Famer Jake “The Snake” Roberts made a surprise appearance at AEW Dynamite this week.

Roberts appeared for a promo with Cody Rhodes inside the ring in Denver, leaving the segment in cliffhanger-mode.

During the spot, Roberts proclaimed himself to be a manager, but did not reveal who exactly he was managing. He told Rhodes his intentions, which mainly focused on taking him out.

Some have stated that Lance Archer could be the client working with Roberts, while others believe it to be Luke Harper. Both are expected to debut in AEW in the coming weeks.

According to a report by Dave Melzter of Wrestling Observer Radio, Roberts has signed a contract with the promotion.

Roberts Reflects On AEW Debut

For Roberts, the moment was a memorable one as he shared on Twitter after first posting “Get Ready” shortly before the program aired.

“1. Thanks to (Diamond Dallas Page),” he wrote. “2. Thanks to AEW for opportunity. 3. Thanks to JAKE for not giving up on sobriety that was so hard.

“WOW one of the greatest moments in my life.”

The 64-year-old Roberts debuted in 1975 and has competed for WWE, NWA, WCW and numerous other promotions. He has long-been considered one of the top heels in the sport for his cerebral promos, dark charisma and use of the DDT.

Roberts battled several years of alcohol and drug addiciton, but worked with Diamond Dallas Page to recover. He was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2014.

Kenny Omega Injury Update

Kenny Omega

An injury kept Kenny Omega from appearing at the most recent edition of AEW Dynamite.

According to a report by Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer Radio, Omega suffered an injury during AEW Revolution. The injury, though, is not expected to keep him sidelined for much longer.

“They say Kenny Omega wasn’t at the show, I presume he wasn’t,” said Meltzer. “I know he’s got a broken little finger, but it’s not something he needs surgery so they’ll put a cast on it. I have a feeling that he’ll wrestle at some point with the cast on, but he wasn’t brought in this week.”

Omega also is a key piece to the programming for the show, serving as an executive vice president.

The 36-year-old is a current AEW tag team champion with Adam Page. He has also competed for New Japan Pro-Wrestling and Ring of Honor during his career.
