For Dustin Poirier, there is no reason to stop and look back.
However, Poirier does have one regret from his title unification match with Khabib Nurmagomedov back in 2019 at UFC 242.
“I just know how close it was,” Poirier said while a guest on The Joe Rogan Experience (thanks to MMA Fighting for the quotes). “A game of inches, and I know how close it was. What haunts me more than (not pulling) full guard is me not switching to a D’arce or anaconda when he rolled to his side.”
The moment Poirier was discussing came in the second round of their scheduled five-round main event. He had a guillotine choke clamped on Nurmagomedov at the time.
Poirier started off 2021 with a convincing win over Conor McGregor.
