The WWE includes a morality clause in its contracts, but this does not mean that some WWE superstars don’t have a colorful history. Some recorded offenses are worse than others, but often quite surprising. We also have to mention there were so many, we couldn’t include them all! Curious which major (ex) WWE superstars have felt the firm hand of the law? Read on to find out!
1. Big Show
Big Show’s arrest was the one that surprised me the most, considering how down to earth and friendly he is now. Still, the arrest took place many years ago, after a female motel employee claimed he exposed himself to her. No formal charges were filed since authorities could not find evidence to back up her claims.
2. Eddie Guerrero
He lied, he cheated and he stole, at least according to his gimmick. Fortunately, his real life offense was not that major. In 2001, Guerrero was arrested for driving under the influence. He pled no contest to the charges, giving him some genuine Latino Heat!
3. Chris Jericho
Chris Jericho ended up on the list himself in January 2010 – the list of WWE superstars with a criminal record! Chris was arrested for alcohol intoxication in a public place, right alongside Gregory Helms. Now, “drink it in man” has an entirely new meaning.
4. Jerry Lawler
Some WWE stars have been arrested more than once; this includes King Jerry Lawler. His first arrest came in 1993, after a 15-year-old girl claimed the star had sodomized and raped her. The charges were later dropped after the girl claimed to have made everything up.
Lawler was also arrested in 1999 when he ripped up a ticket in front of an officer at Memphis International Airport. Lawler was also arrested for an alleged domestic assault recently, adding to the long list of arrests.
5. Jeff Hardy
Even though Jeff is in my top 5 of favorite wrestlers, he has got some serious convictions to his name. Jeff struggled with drug addiction for years, leading to charges such as trafficking controlled prescription pills and possession of anabolic steroids. His arrest came after officers found 262 Vicodin pills, 180 soma pills, 555 milliliters of anabolic steroids, left-over cocaine and other drug paraphernalia. He would only serve 10 days in jail. Just say no Jeff!
6. Booker T.
The WWE star with the most severe criminal charges to his name is undoubtedly Booker T. Before he became a wrestler, Booker lost his way and committed numerous armed robberies in Houston. He would eventually be arrested in 1987 and serve 19 months of his 5-year sentence.
7. Charlotte Flair
Yes, it seems like Charlotte Flair was following in her dad’s footsteps when it comes to troubles with the law. However, her troubles seem to have remained in the past, since she has now built a successful career.
Charlotte was arrested in Chapel Hill, North Carolina in 2008. She was charged with assaulting a police officer after there was a reported fight between her, Â her ex-boyfriend, and her father Ric. Even though Rick refused to press charges against his daughter, she did have to face charges for resisting arrest and assaulting an officer. She was sentenced to 45 days in jail, converted to supervised probation and a $200 fine. That’s not very queen-like Charlotte!
