– In NXT, The Revival found great success by becoming the first two time tag team champions and also having candidates for match of the year. Then they joined the main roster and have not been able to even come close to duplicating their prior success. So, Dash Wilder and Scott Dawson asking for their WWE release should not come as a major surprise.
According to Pro Wrestling Sheet, the decision by The Revival was not hastily made as they have not been happy with the direction of the tag team division. Despite competing on this past Monday’s RAW, their match was also used as a cut-away segment for wrestlers trying to speak with Vince McMahon about getting a Universal Championship shot. They were also not happy that the RAW Tag Team Champions Bobby Roode & Chad Gable were not even booked for the show.
As of now, WWE has denied The Revival’s request for a release. Both sides will need to work things out as the team is under contract until April 2020. It might not be a bad idea to let The Revival return to NXT where they can a decent push, work with some new teams and maybe get another chance at the main roster in a few months when WWE has actual storylines for the division.
– Speaking of the tag team division, Akam from the Authors of Pain (AOP) is out with an undisclosed leg injury. We are still waiting on more details, but he will miss at least several months of action.
Without Akam, it puts Rezar in a bad spot. The two have always worked together and they got a small push when Drake Maverick became their manager as AOP captured the RAW Tag Team Championships.
Maverick is still the 205 Live General Manager, so he has something to fall back on. Either Rezar dabbles as a singles competitor (which will probably not end well) or he sits out waiting for Akam to be cleared for in-ring action.
