Impact/Global Force Wrestling Has concluded its investigation into the incident between Alberto El Patron and Paige. While initial reports indicated that Patron would keep his title and remain GFW champion, the company released a statement today that confirmed just the opposite.

We have communicated with El Patron our decision to strip him of his championship title. No decision has been taken as to the date on which he will be reinstated to the roster, the conditions of which are a private matter between the company and El Patron.

Public Pressure

Global Force taking a firmer stance against Patron than the police did is unexpected but not surprising. Domestic violence among athletes has been a hot topic recently. With the decision by the NFL to defend Dallas Cowboy’s running back Ezekiel Elliott because of domestic assault, it seems that GFW feels that a similar measure with Patron is warranted.

Curiously, WWE has not released a statement on whether or not they will suspend Paige. She has been off the air for several months due to injury and a Wellness Policy violation. There are rumors however that Paige will be returning soon, perhaps as early as this Sunday’s SummerSlam.

We will keep you updated on this story as developments happen.
