Beyoncé was humiliated on Monday morning when she was brutally snubbed by the Country Music Awards. Indeed, her country album Cowboy Carter did not get a single nomination despite fawning press.
Beyoncé Snubbed By CMAs
The nominations for the 58th CMA Awards were announced on Monday morning. Unfortunately for Beyoncé, 43, she was not nominated for any award. This was particularly embarrassing for her, given the fact that the CMAs are known to be one of the most prestigious awards in the country music industry.
Before being snubbed, Beyoncé qualified for CMA categories like single of the year, song of the year, album of the year, female vocalist of the year, and music event of the year. She even qualified for entertainer of the year, but was not able to score a nomination in any category.
At the time of this writing, Beyoncé has yet to comment publicly about the snubs. Her fans, however, have let their fury be known in a big way.
“Beyoncé should host a live show on all platforms at the exact same time as the CMAs. Or release the videos for the album the minute the CMAs begin,” one social media user commented. Another added, “Beyoncé didn’t receive a single nomination at the Country Music Awards (CMAs). It has started.”
A third social media user pointed out that Beyoncé is “still dominating the conversation” surrounding the awards show even though she was snubbed.

Beyoncé Jumps Into Country Music World
Beyoncé jumped into the country music world for the first time with the release of Cowboy Carter back in March. At the time, she was outspoken about how much entering this genre meant to her.
“Today marks the 10-day countdown until the release of Act II. Thank you from the bottom of my heart to all of the supporters of ‘Texas Hold ‘Em’ and ‘16 Carriages,’” she said after the release, referring to the first two singles from Cowboy Carter. “I feel honored to be the first Black woman with the number one single on the Hot Country Songs chart.”
“That would not have happened without the outpouring of support from each and every one of you,” she continued. “My hope is that years from now, the mention of an artist’s race, as it relates to releasing genres of music, will be irrelevant.”
Beyoncé went on to say that this album was “over five years in the making.” This had to make this snubbing by the CMAs sting even more. She lamented that she previously “did not feel welcomed” on the country music scene for many years.
“It was very clear that I wasn’t [welcome],” she stated. “But, because of that experience, I did a deeper dive into the history of Country music and studied our rich musical archive.”
It is believed that Beyoncé was referring to the 2016 CMAs. During that show, she sang her song “Daddy Lessons” alongside The Chicks (formerly The Dixie Chicks).

Beyoncé Makes History
Beyoncé has since made history as the first black woman to ever reach No. 1 on the Billboard Top Country Albums chart. She also became the first black woman to hit the No. 1 spot on Billboard’s Hot country songs chart with “Texas Hold ‘Em,” which held the top position for a surprising ten weeks.
Sadly, it appears that all of this simply was not enough to get her in the good graces of the CMAs.
After all the work that she put into this country music album, being snubbed by the CMAs has to be a hard pill for Beyoncé to swallow. It remains to be seen if she will speak out about it!
