There are a lot of musicians who are also in the acting world, and vice versa. But when you think about country artists, you probably don’t think about them trying to act as well. But interestingly enough, there are a few country stars with acting roles that you might not know about. Let’s go through some of the most iconic roles that you might have forgotten about.

Kris Kristofferson was a pioneer in the outlaw country movement in the 1970s with his famous songs, including “Me and Bobby McGee,” “For the Good Times,” “Sunday Mornin’ Comin’ Down,” and “Help Me Make It Through the Night.” Along with his powerful music, he also made a name for himself on the screen, as he was part of a few films, the most notable being alongside Barbra Streisand in the 1976 adaptation of A Star is Born.

5. Dwight Yoakam

Dwight Yoakam first received mainstream attention back in 1986 with the release of his album Guitars, Cadillacs, Etc., Etc.. With his amazing songs, including “Streets of Bakersfield” and “I Sang Dixie”, Yoakam has a prominent role in the country music industry. But he’s also one of the many country stars with acting roles, as he was a part of the film Cry Macho and a streaming series called Goliath.

Another icon in the country music industry is George Strait. The legend is known as the “King of Country Music” as he holds the record for the most number of songs on all charts by an artist, sitting at 60, in any genre of music, including a record 44 on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart. His most iconic songs include “Write This Down,” “Check Yes or No,” “Carrying Your Love With Me,” “Give It Away,” and “Love Without End, Amen.” He’s also one of the many country stars with acting roles, for instance, his 1992 role in Pure Country. He’s also done some voice acting, for instance, a cameo in King of the Hill.

Trace Adkins has many influential songs that are perfect for any party. He’s also known for his supporting roles in The Blind Side, Friday Night Lights, The Kingdom, Tomorrowland, Four Christmases, and he was even in flashback scenes in Yellowstone.
