The legendary figure in country music, best known for his iconic songs like Chattahoochee, Remember When, It’s Five O’Clock Somewhere, and Gone Country, is one of the most prominent figures in the genre. And at the 60th ACMs this past week, he became the first-ever recipient of the newly created Alan Jackson Lifetime Achievement Award.
As the inaugural winner, the award will now bear his name moving forward. Upon receiving his award, Jackson talked about his remarkable journey through country music, saying,g “I came to Nashville with a paper sack full of songs and a crazy dream, and all these years later, standing here receiving such an honor like this is just mind-blowing.”
He was awarded a remarkable standing ovation from the crowd. Jackson also went to thank one specific person who’s been his best friend since 17 years old, “my wife Denise out there. She’s loved me through the good and the bad, the happy and the sad. Influenced me, gave me three beautiful daughters, and she’s helped me keep my feet on the ground all these years. I would not be here without her.”

The Academy chose Jackson as the inaugural recipient due to his outstanding achievements and his enduring legacy within the genre. He’s been constantly praised for his heartfelt lyrics, humble demeaner, passion and devotion for songwriting, reliability, and timeless sound.
The moment was followed by Jackson performing his iconic ballad, Remember When, as photos from his life played on screen behind him.
Jackson now prepares for his final show of his Last Call: One More for the Road tour at Milwaukee’s Fiserv Forum. This is his process of retiring from touring, which he announced in 2022 after being diagnosed with Charcot-Marie-Tooth disorder, which is a degenerative nerve disease that affects balance and movement through the arms and legs.

Even though he’s retiring, this award only solidifies his place as an iconic figure in country music, with his legacy going down in history as one of the greatest of all time.
